friends first

Here at East Kilbride Vineyard Church we always want to be friends first.

We believe Jesus wants us all to be friends first. He prayed for future generations to come - that they would have unity and be one, just as He is one with God. (John 17;20-23)

Being friends first means that we value one another as the dearly beloved children of God way before the functions we may perform.  Making sure our relationships with each other is a priority and creating a culture of honour as we consider our spiritual brothers and sisters. (Matthew 12;48-50, Romans 12;10, Hebrews 13;1)

Putting our friendships first requires us to consider others.  Inviting them in to be a part of the team, giving everyone a chance to try, and celebrating with them. God loves it when we give it a go, regardless whether we win or fail. (Hebrews 11;6)

Spurring one another in good works, encouraging and building each other was a big part of the new testament church.  We believe that this is what’s needed to create a precious bond with the people of God today.  Along with humility and kindness. (Hebrews 10;24, Romans 12, 1 Thessalonians 5;11, Hebrews 3;13).
